The Joliet Bicycle Club wants to make sure that all Cyclists adopt safe riding habits whether your on a trail or on the road. When we educate ourselves with Best Practices, we become better riders. Learning the proper techniques of riding in traffic will not only be safer for the cyclists, but will allow traffic to flow smoothly. Learning; The rules of the Trail and following proper trail etiquette sets an example for all other cyclists we interact with throughout our journeys.

How to Safely Cross Railroad Tracks

Always cross RR tracks Perpendicular whenever possible!

Never attempt to cross RR tracks Parallel.

Never exceed more than a 30 degree angle.

How NOT to cross RR tracks.

If at anytime you’re not sure about what angle to cross at, just STOP and walk across the tracks.
